IHTEC HISTORY

History
IHTEC was founded in January 1993 by Julia Morton-Marr (founding president), Eric Foster (co-founder), Louis D'Amore (founder of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism, IIPT).

Record of Achievement
IHTEC is developing a series of Millennium Projects focused around environmental education, food security, and planetary regeneration. Lu'um K'aa Nab, Asociacion Civil, in Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico is one of several IHTEC's international representatives for "Los Parques Escolares en Mexico por la paz".

International School Peace Gardens (ISPG)
Millennium Programme was founded in 1994, with the status of a United Nations 50th Anniversary Programme. ISPG has been hosted in Canada for eighteen months by the Ontario Parks Association since 1996 and 1997. The evolution of this innovative program has been seeded to over 3500 schools in 31 countries around the world. more

Watershed Peace Pathways (WPP)
program has been in consultation with the Canadian Heritage Rivers Secretariat and the Canadian River Management Society, and was released on May 4, 1998 at the Rivers Canada Conference in Vancouver, BC. IHTEC won the Elaine Burke Award & OPA Community Parks Week 1997 Awards. In 1998, Julia was awarded the YMCA Canada Peace Medal for Mississauga in Ontario. more
